Please take the time to research and familiarize yourself with the character, genre, rules, and narrative of any given roleplay you decide in which to participate. It shows respect for yourself and your fellow roleplayers.

This simple action will prevent 90% of the nonsense that ruins good roleplay scenes and narratives (mute handles the other 10%). And whatever story or book your roleplay is based on provides the framework and foundation upon which you bring your character alive--it matters. Use it. When in doubt, ask for help.

Lastly, designing your character to be some super special exotic snowflake or an invincible batman-like asshole might sound pretty awesome on paper but are horrible characters to engage. Especially if you want to experience exciting and diverse storylines. Give your fellow roleplayers something to roleplay with and off of—live a little, fail a little (allow people to fail a little), and above all, have fun!
