It is an intimate connection that should be based on mutual respect and genuine affection. It can flourish or it can also be “just” in the moment.

We have heard, “Before I have sex, I need a “meaningful” connection with someone.” I agree with this. It takes time and a commitment to get there. But here is the hypocrisy of it, using sex as a bargaining chip, when only one commits to the time to develop that meaningful connection with their availability. It takes more than words, but an honest participation to make those words valid. No integrity, it ends quickly.

I am also skeptical of those who cannot take sex for “just sex” as a healthy and wonderful aspect to being human. Not saying that this is all there is, but nothing is wrong with this either. Both can be exceptional. Keep the boxes straight, be honest, and have integrity. I participate in both perspectives.
