TMC mesh is optimised to work with low LOD settings. However, it's 2017. SL has shaders , mesh and materials now. It's a 10+ year old game, even my 3 year old laptop can run SL at max settings. Do yourself a favour and turn all the graphics settings up so I look good!

In Preferences > Graphics > General turn the LOD slider for object and sculpts up to at least 3 and turn the advanced lighting model on. While you're there, try maxing everything else out too.

If you end up with low FPS, just turn your draw distance down or try logging in on something powered by electricty and not steam.
