I have them turned off. Yes, you can do this. When you send me a friend request, I don't see anything, not even a IM pop up. That message you get? It's not a busy message. It's a message explaining this. So don't feel offended if your request has been ignored before.

I'm not in the market for "name collecting," don't feel obligated to accept every request, and I'm a QUALITY over QUANTITY type person. If you haven't had a few engaging conversations with me and some kind of connection, I don't feel like you need to be on my list, and it's nothing personal. I have many people I speak to, like and associate with on a daily basis that I don't add to my list.
