The Clown....

People Tell me I'm Happy-go-lucky
Because I make them laugh you see,
I've always got a silly joke to tell
so,I amuse them constantly.
but underneath all of this nonsense
are tears that haven't been cried,
it's easier to let the laughter out
and keep holding the hurt inside.
My jokes would capture and audience
and they'd laugh themselves to tears
but hidden between the punchlines
is a message that nobody hears.
Like the clown in a three-ring-circus
I wear my painted smile so well
my act brings laughter to everyone
so they don't hear the story I tell.
A story of childhood pain withheld
and rejection that continues today,
of a clown that learned to cope with the hurt
by simply laughing it all away.
But if I could live my life over again
the whole world would hear my cries...
'cause take it from me,it ain't easy to be
"The Clown" if its just a disguise.
