Many subs are chronic overthinkers, and tend not to find spiritual satisfaction in organized religion. They can't bring themselves to believe so many highly unlikely stories from millennia ago, documented only by people who claimed to have witnessed them, translated and retranslated and sometimes (but not always) included in a single book by people with their own agendas. I don't blame them.

In submission, they seek not just an erotic but a spiritual experience. A palpable connection to whatever drives the universe beyond the physical phenomena we can observe.
