The 80's

Having seen a slew of decades at this point, the 80's were - hands down - the best of the lot!
Everything was slower and closer-knit, and there was a shared culture. Everyone you knew lived in the same ten mile radius, went to the same school as you, watched the same TV shows you did because there were like 5 channels, hung out at the same mall and arcade, got junkfood at the same places... Music choice was what the DJ on the radio played, and there were only like 5 radio stations, so chances were everyone you knew was into the same stuff when it came out - and you personalized your music with mixtapes made by patiently waiting for the above DJ to play something you liked, hoping they didn't talk over the intro, and then hitting record.
There was legitimately new technological magic arriving monthly it seemed: VCR, Cable TV, home computers, video games... And the music! Synthesizers made everything possible and everyone was experimenting with sounds that had never existed before.
It was amazing!
